English As A Second Language Program
English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs are designed to help non-English speaking students learn to participate meaningfully in educational programs. Without basic instruction in English, students who do not speak English are at risk of losing educational opportunities. Every school in the Commonwealth is charged with providing instruction to non-English speaking students and for providing programs with the purpose of facilitating the student’s achievement of english proficiency.
Muncy School District has designed programs for students that include instructional activities that are aligned with the ESL standards. Teachers in the program provide daily reading and writing instruction to the English Language Learners (ELL) and maintain close contact with other content-area teachers to facilitate the student’s acquisition of the English language.
